SPRING FISHING IN LOUISIANA
As the waters start to warm and the days become longer, marsh vegetation begins to grow in small protected areas, which acts as a filter for the water. These protected areas also hold an enormous amount of bait. The warming waters cause the redfish to start actively feeding in shallow waters. This time of year offers anglers the opportunity to see an abundance of fish actively feeding with their tails out of water or belly crawling in the super shallows. All these factors combine to make for an incredible sight fishing experience!
During this time of year, the average redfish we will see will be in the 6-12 pound range, so we recommend using a 7-9 wt rod with a floating line. Some other species you might run across in the spring include bass, trout, sheepshead, and drum. We will be fishing mostly out of the Delacriox area which is about 1 hr from downtown New Orleans.

Weather is always a factor so we recommend you book your trip with the possibility of rescheduling. We don’t want you locked into a flight or hotel room and the weather is not fishable. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions about fishing or lodging this time of year.
