Offshore Fishing Trips

Offshore fishing in the Mississippi river delta in lower Plaquemines Parish is one of the best offshore destinations in the world!  Captain Michael Pittman has been fishing these waters since high school and knows the waters thoroughly.

The nutrients dumping out of the Mississippi river bring so much life to the waters around the delta it makes it hard to have a bad day offshore. Equipped with a 36 ft Contender we will show you how to take advantage of this fertile fishery.

Our target species for conventional depends on the season but includes Tuna, Wahoo, Marlin, Cobia, Snapper and other reef fish. Some main seasons to be aware of is Summer Snapper fishing, Winter Wahoo, and fall trophy Tuna.

Fly fishing offshore starts in May and goes through November.   For these trips Captain Michael Pittman will be teaming up with Captain Miles LaRose to ensure your trip is a success.  Captain Michael knows the offshore game while Captain Miles knows the fly game.  These two have spent the last 3 years developing methods to tap into Louisiana’s vast offshore opportunities on the fly.  We can finally say they have it figured out.  There are three groups of species depending on the anglers ability.  For beginner anglers we will stay in relatively shallow water and target Jack Crevalle, Spanish mackerel, blue runners, Cobia and different types of snapper.  For the more experienced anglers we will go a little deeper and target Amberjack, Bonita, larger snapper, King Mackerel, and Mahi Mahi.  For advanced anglers we will be targeting Skipjack tuna, Blackfin Tuna, and Yellowfin tuna.  The rate for advanced anglers may vary according to the distance the tuna are holding offshore.  Of course if the target species are being difficult we will fall back on other species to make the day.

Conventional : Up to 6 people $2200 flat rate.  This includes all gear, fuel, ice, bait, and fish cleaning.

Fly: Up to4 people $2000 flat rate.  This includes all gear, fuel, ice, and fish cleaning.

Fly Fishing Trips

Spring/ Summer

This time of year offers anglers the opportunity to see an abundant amount of fish. The name of the game is finding locations that have clean water. Our guides hunt tirelessly to locate areas with abundant vegetation. Densely vegetated ponds and channels act as a natural filtration system cleaning dirty water deposited by our river systems. These protected areas also hold an enormous amount of bait. All these factors combined make for a sight fishing experience filled with numerous shots at eagerly awaiting fish!

Fall/ Winter

This time of year offers anglers the opportunity at a redfish of a lifetime! The colder months bring with them the arrival of giant redfish cruising our outer bays in search of warmer water and the baitfish it brings with it. The added bonus of fishing in the cooler and colder months is the fact that the sediments in our waters drop out leaving it crystal clear. What could be better than getting a front row seat to a forty plus pound redfish inhaling your fly?

Boats – Technical poling skiffs (mostly East Cape)
